BIOGRAPHY
Richard Jenkins Pearson Jr. is a retired finance executive who now spends his time supporting Wisconsin nonprofits related to youth and adult literacy, independent journalism, and cybersecurity for Wisconsin critical public infrastructure. He is currently a board member for Wisconsin Watch, a project of the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism (WCIJ Inc.)
He was previously a director with Deutsche Bank, spending nine years in New York, London and Hong Kong as a specialist in origination and structuring of convertible bonds. He was subsequently a private long-short equities investor for 12 years, based at various times out of Los Angeles, Beijing and Indonesia.
Over the years, Richard published hundreds of articles focused on reverse engineering complex financial strategies used by hedge funds and Wall Street insiders. His analyses and commentary have been published or featured across a variety of mainstream media publications including Bloomberg, The Financial Times, Barrons, and the Wall Street Journal, among others.
Despite being a native Madisonian, Richard received his B.S. in finance from the University of Southern California. Since 1993, he has spent many years living, working and studying in various cities across China. He is proficient in Mandarin and enjoys all things related to Chinese language, history, culture and food.
In his personal life, Richard is a PADI-certified rescue diver who enjoys yoga, martial arts, reading and playing guitar. He lives on the west side of Madison.
